One of two (news-making) ways #California is approaching #OnlineEducation.

One of two (news-making) ways #California is approaching #OnlineEducation. This is Jerry Brown's personal preference, apparently. It may or may not get such emphasis next year after he's re-retired. Budgets get revised.

(The other way is the Online Education Initiative, q.v.)

Even if IG's audit recommendations on WGU are not adopted by Dept of Ed, the findings will likely have a big impact in California and in the fragile movement of CBE.

Ironically, this story came out the morning of the US attack on Syria. (It covers higher ed across #Monterey County, #California, but leads with the story of a Syrian student.)

Lama Ranjous was coming of age in Damascus just as Syria was thrumming with the possibility of change. She left her hometown of Hama, about three hours from Damascus, to live in the city and study political science, and just after she graduated college in 2010, the Arab Spring began to deliver hope of democracy, but also rocked the region with violence.
