Yes, lecturers in the CSU know about this.

Yes, lecturers in the CSU know about this. We do have healthcare benefits IF our teaching load is at a certain level. (The word “contingent” is the official term for a reason.)

One of two (news-making) ways #California is approaching #OnlineEducation. This is Jerry Brown's personal preference, apparently. It may or may not get such emphasis next year after he's re-retired. Budgets get revised.

(The other way is the Online Education Initiative, q.v.)

Now that I'm on the other side of it, still one of the very few black (African American) faculty in the Cal State system of 23 campuses, I like to ask a variety of questions.

It's fun, if not always effective, to pick on the management side for their limited recruiting, hiring, and retention abilities, but I must also ask questions of myself. For example, did it matter that I had only one black classroom teacher in my entire K-12 and undergrad experience? Zero coaches and counselors? etc. After all, here I am, with proper degrees and a job and an attitude. ;-)

Amplifying for #SantaCruz area people. It's going to be rainy, cold, etc. but I just RSVP'd to attend this Cathy Davidson event. We've been in a Hangout together but never in the same room.

So, this #Canvas pilot was announced in our #CSUMB Academic Senate today. There are already a few faculty involved, though I'm not. "Not a done deal" is the quote in the meeting but they're looking at Moodle options.

Laura Gibbs (If we do this I will come out and live with you for a while)
Phil Hill Bryan Alexander
Liz Stevenson Michelle Pacansky-Brock (we hear Canvas is really growing in the CCC... part of the brief justification given today)
Please DO tag in anyone else who might be interested.

I'm going back to PAYING ATTENTION in this meeting dammit. More later.
